Position: Director of Finance

Perched on the Kittatinny Ridge in the Pocono Mountains, Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center is a refuge for everyone seeking to live humanly in a violent world.
Kirkridge is located on 217 acres of land (including 107 acres protected by permanent land easement through The Nature Conservancy.) We can host approximately 100 people on campus in double occupancy rooms in four separate meeting/dining and housing locations that range from the westward facing Nelson Lodge at the top of the mountain, to Turning Point facing the rising sun, to the historic Farmhouse located at the lower level. We host our own programming and also rent to individuals, movement organizations, congregations, and other groups. We have hiking paths throughout the property and are located along the Appalachian Trail.
Job Type: Part-time, 25 hrs/wk
Compensation: $24,000 a year
Schedule: This position requires being onsite during the work week. Days and times are flexible. Some remote work can be negotiated.
Roles and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Finance carries the following duties:
- Maintaining the day-to-day accounting records and the general ledger
- Prepare checks
- Maintain reconciliation/verification systems
- Handle vendor contacts
- Enter and track accounts receivables
- Ensure timely deposits
- Prepare monthly financial reports
- Prepare for yearly audits/reviews
- Ready subcontractor 1099s and any other IRS year-end requirements
- Work with the accountant to prepare necessary documentation for IRS year-end requirements for filing the 990
- Record payroll expense and employee record keeping
- Assist with preparation of the annual budget
- Perform a variety of administrative duties
- Assist with grant requests and grant reports
- Facilitate financial meetings and correspond regularly with board members
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
Experience/Skills:
- Must be highly motivated, organized, and have a solid understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with non-profit organizations is preferred
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
- Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines
- An attention to detail and an eye for improving and/or creating systems and process
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as bookkeeper
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and Google Docs
