What if …

  • … we no longer associate descriptions of “blind, deaf, and lame” with people we perceive as failing to manifest spiritual wholeness and needing a specific healing?
  • … we move beyond believing we already know what healing for others would look like?
  • … our teaching examples began to embrace the language of changes in consciousness, the foundation of true healing into wholeness?  Rev. Joy Wyler

Our world and spiritual teachings are beginning to embrace the diversity of humanity. Gradually we are moving away from seeing wholeness manifesting with specific characteristics of race, sexual orientation, gender identification, or ability. Yet for some of us, old voices still scream in our heads that we are less worthy than others. Less because our shape or size is not quite right. Less because our sexuality differs from the norm. Less because we need assistance in communicating or hearing the words of others. Less because no matter how hard we try, voices within our heads keep filling us with us negative self-talk.  The list is endless.

What if we truly believed that from the inside out we are whole and loved, as Mr. Rogers always proclaimed, “just the way we are.” Even more radical, what is just the way we are is in fact a gift to the world?

Join us for a weekend based on the work of Rev. Joy Wyler and her concept of Radical Wholeness.

As a circle, we will create space for questions to emerge and use the gifts of time, place, solitude and community to listen deeply to the deep conversations within ourselves. In a community of trusted companions, we will explore the intersection of radical wholeness making use of stories from our own journeys, insights from poets, storytellers, and various wisdom traditions.

We will create a Circle of Trust®, honor the “principles and practices” of Courage and Renewal® work and engage in the historic practice of “clearness committees.”

*If you are planning on commuting, please call Janet Lewis at 610-588-1793 for commuter rates.

This retreat will be led by Joy Wyler and Jean Richardson. They will facilitate us in forming a quiet, focused, and disciplined space—a Circle of Trust®—in which the noise within us and around us can subside and we can begin to hear our voice of wholeness emerge from our inner selves.

Dr. Jean M. Richardson has spent her past two decades working in retreat centers. Jean is a trained facilitator of the Center for Courage and Renewal, an ordained Presbyterian minister, an experienced program and workshop facilitator.

Rev. Joy Wyler, J.D., has served as the senior minister at Unity of Lehigh Valley, in Emmaus, Pennsylvania, since 2009. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Unity World Headquarters and is a former member of the faculty for Unity Institute and Seminary. Wyler has also written for Daily Word.
